Down Home in Mayberry

Thursday during my spring break, Laurelin, Kaylynn and I went back to a simpler life where folks are friendly and you can go to Floyd's and get a haircut with no waiting. Yes, you guessed right! We went to Mt. Airy, the town that Andy Griffin based the town of Mayberry on. However contrary to what they say, we were going to have to wait a really long time to get a haircut at Floyd's because IT IS CLOSED ON THURSDAY! Ahhh!

Oh well, we had a good time anyway! It was a little drizzly that day, but it did not stop us from having a good time.
Here we are in the town of Mayberry!

We went to Opie's Candy Story and the John Deer Toy Store. Who would have known that they had enough toys with the John Deer logo?

We also went to the court house, Wally's Garage and Andy's house. If you want, you can rent it and stay the night there. But I have to warn you, that the neighbors are much closer now. We drove out to the T.V.Land statue of Andy and Opie, which I think is pretty funny since I just found out that there is another replica of the same statue in Pullen Park which is 10 minutes from my house.

None the less, we played and had a great time going back in time. Things are still a little less expensive, slower and friendlier, if that is possible in N.C.

We also went to their Historical Museum which was only $4. I thought, "wow, is it going to be worth it?", but it was fascinating. I learned a lot about the area, played a good game of checkers and learned more about the first set of Siamese twin (which is where the name originated because the men were from Siam)

Well, Benjamin has been gone for a very long time and this man was so sweet. I just asked for a little sugar.










But in a town like Mayberry, there are hard punishments for such impropriety
and they don't want to let you out!

However, it was a tiring trip, so I thought about my crime or maybe just dreamed about it.












So in the mean time, they let Laurelin and Barney look after things for a while and Barney let me out. But only after, I promised I would be a good girl!
